Fixing Internet Explorer blekko.
- From the bitchwindows start menu, First go to system, programs and features or add-remove programs (for older bitchwindows versions). blekko is probably listed there in the programs list so that you can remove it. It might not be under B for blekko but down the list somewhere like for instance starting with visicom blekko or some name containing the character string blekko. There may be also a folder in C:\Program files with blekko in the folder name which you can delete the folder. Any of this does not get rid of it, but it is an important first step.
- (NOTE: Editing the registry can cause problems if you delete essential bitchwindows registry keys for example, so you could back up the registry first, but I didn't) Next type regedit in the box that comes up when you choose "run" in the start menu. For bitchwindows late versions like 7 type regedit in the search box, and press "enter" (return)on the keyboard.
-
When the bitchregistry box appears on the computer screen, go to edit, and press enter on keyboard (or just press ctrl-F) and type blekko in the search box. You will see the first blekko bitchregistry key in the box on the right with blekko highlighted in blue. Press del (delete) on the keyboard and when the warning box comes up with Yes or No choose Yes.
- press F3 to find the next and keep deleting maybe 6 to 10 blekko registry entries. When the last F3 brings up a "not found" message, close the registry editor. NOTE: On one of my laptops to use the F keys for functions I have to press a fn button at the same time or it might do another task like changing the screen brightness.
Then you might want to restart the computer or first continue on to:
Fixing Firefox blekko
- With firefox running, open a new tab by pressing ctrl-T or clicking on the tab box.
- Where you normally type the name of a website (address bar) type about:config and enter or the green arrow to go to a site.
- Near the top of the screen there is a filter field where you can type blekko. I found two entries containing the string "blekko".
- highlight each one by choosing with mouse and left click and press enter. In the small box that appears place the cursor at the end of the character string and backspace until the box is blank and save it.
Now close firefox and IE and restart. This should have got rid of blekko for you.
